New Musical Director Appointed

Rogerstone Band are thrilled to announce the appointment of Jeff Hutcherson as their new MD. Jeff is an accomplished cornet player and was with BTM for many years. He now has turned his hand to conducting, and has already demonstrated his boundless enthusiasm and capability at two rehearsals, looking at the Area test piece, "Cry of the Mountain" by Howard Lorriman. The band has not competed for twelve months, and is now very keen to get back to the contest stage.
The band requires a front row cornet player and solo trombone to strengthen its team for the coming months. If you fancy a new challenge, applications should be made by telephone to Julian on 07514 369553, and will be treated in strictest confidence.

First Rehearsal After Summer Break Announced

The band will be holding its first rehearsal after the Summer break on Friday 13th of September at 7.30pm. Conductor Adrian Morton will be in the middle, and we are expecting not only our existing players, but also several former players and some new ones. Other players are also welcome to come along, please contact Julian on 07514369553 to let us know.

We have a concert arranged for the 28th of November at Dinas Powys, and looking ahead, a concert in Newport on May the 24th 2014 with the Gwent Police Choir. There is also the matter of our First Section Area Contest as well of course, on Saturday the 15th of March. This is being held at Llandudno next year - the hotel is already booked!
