Welcome to the Rogerstone Band website
The band welcomes all viewers with open arms and hopes the website provides a clear picture of life in the Rogerstone Band. The band strives for excellence in all areas and has recently been promoted to first section for national competitions alongside being in the first section for local competitions. The bands repertoire features challenging contest music ranging through to light Sunday afternoon music. One of the bands main principles is to develop our youth system through many soloist opportunities and hopes to provide some stars for the future!!
The band wants to welcome all members no matter who you are!
NEW SIGNING
The band welcomes Lisa Richards, joining at Repiano just in time for the Area Contest on the 19th of March. Lisa will take over from Rachel Williams who has moved to Soprano. Lisa also plays with Usk Band so she is going to be very busy in the coming months! Read more »
RECENT MOVES
There have been a few moves within the band recently. Jenny Burns has moved from 2nd Horn to Solo, taking over from Hywel Woods. Many thanks go to Hywel for all of his help over the last couple of years. Rachel ‘Roxy’ Meese has moved into the 2nd Horn spot, making a brave move from the back row. Read more »
THREE OFF TO UNIVERSITY
Three of our players are leaving the band to move on to take up their places in university. Ben Roberts (solo euphonium) is off to Huddersfield studying Music, Kate Beckett (solo cornet) is going to Warwick to study French and German, and Calum Greenhalgh (2nd trombone) is going to Keele to study Human Biology and Forensic Science. SECOND PLACE AT EBBW VALE!
The band took second place behind Blaenavon Town Band in the First Section of the SEWBBA Contest at Ebbw Vale on Saturday the 22nd May 2010 at the leisure centre. Most pleasing of all was the ‘Best Soprano’ prize that went to our own Ellie Holland, who played the solo from Philip Sparke’s ‘Land of the Long White Cloud’ absolutely brilliantly. Read more »
WARM GLOW AT THE WINTER GARDENS!
The band took first place in the Championship / First Section of the Weston-super-Mare Own Choice Contest on Sunday 16th May 2010 at the Winter Gardens. Despite the fact that most of the opposition bands were from the Championship Section, the band gave a good performance of Philip Sparke’s ‘Land of the Long White Cloud’ and managed to beat Milton Keynes Brass into second place. WELSH CHAMPIONS!
The band became first section Champion Band of Wales on Saturday after winning at the final SEWBBA Contest of the year at Blaenavon. It was a comfortable win with a 2 point gap to the second band, the home team Blaenavon. The day ended as a clean sweep as the band was not only awarded the First Place Trophy and the Champion Band Trophy but also the Soloists’ Trophy, that went to Tom Powell, the Eb bass player.

Pontin's Weekend
The band enjoyed a largely fine weekend at Prestatyn, with a creditable performance gaining seventh place in the 2nd Section. The early morning draw that saw them gathering at 8am, was a little daunting, but everyone coped very well on stage. Read more »
What A Performance!
The band gained its first win under the baton of Jamie Jones on Saturday at Burry Port. It was an emphatic first place, a clear 3 points over the next band. Read more »
